Today we are looking at the images here which show plantation shutters being used in a lounge situation. We can see from this room that the window has been covered in a white thick slatted fixed plantation shutter.
The thick slats with rod create a solid, stylish and luxurious feel to this room when compared with the curtains just to the right. The shutters in this instance are fixed to the window frame and are not hinged which means that they cannot be opened fully, however this suites this window perfectly as you can see through the slats the neighbours house is directly opposite and quite close so there would generally not be too great a need to open the shutters, merely tilting the slats to allow light into the room will suffice as there is also another large window adjacent to the shutter.
Being finished in a semi gloss paint also presents an excellent finish for these shutters to compliment the neutral decor of this room. White will remain stylish for most wall paint colours, but take note that when updating or improving your home with shutters it is important to take into consideration the room colour and possible changes to your room colour. We will be running more articles on shutter colours in the future, however suffice to say it is an important factor!
So back with the program, this room's plantation shutter has wide slats, it utilises a fixed frame so cannot be opened and is finished in a semi-gloss white. All in all we think it lends itself perfectly for blocking out the view to the neighbours who are at close quarters and importantly inhibits the view from the house opposite into this room by using a push rod which adjusts the slats for viewing...
The soft blues of the sofa are well complimented by this particular plantation shutter and the whole room takes on an air of sophistication!
Money well spent we hope you will agree.
